Enrichment at the Zoo

Every enrichment report begins with the words "Enrichment is critical to the well-being of zoo animals".  It is our belief that zoo animals' lives are significantly enhanced when they are provided with activities outside the normal daily routine. Stimulation, whether it is a walk around the zoo or a unique food treat, serves to keep animals interested in their surroundings.

The photograph of Mele, the miniature horse; Jose, the llama; Jelly, the zebu, and the mini goats going for a walk around the zoo is one example of an enrichment team activity.

There are many more activities the team engages in such as preparing and distributing treats on special fun days.

The enrichment team wants to expand its team and is looking for dedicated volunteers. We invite interested individuals to meet with the team every Wednesday at noon at the petting zoo.
